Jargon-buster :: Screen resolution
Generally speaking there are three levels -
- SVGA - 800 x 600
- XGA -1024 x 768
- SXGA - 1365 x 1024
The resolution is the same with projectors and monitors - it's how well or focused an image can be - the higher the number the better it is. Many computer video cards and their monitors are XGA (1024 x 768), so when showing images from a computer there is little point in using a projector with a higher resolution than the computer can generate. Watch out for the projectors that compress the resolution, this means downgrade to a native or the real resolution.
There's a lot of talk at the moment about high definition (HD), specifically with monitors. Most of this equipment will accept the high definition (eg. HD ready) signal but it's actually compressed to an XGA (1024 x 768) resolution.
